School's Mission

Mission Statement

The British School of Houston provides high quality education in a structured, positive and caring environment designed to meet the individual needs of pupils. The school community draws strength from both its British identity and its American home. It welcomes all nationalities, engenders respect for all cultures, and a sense of discipline is naturally achieved. The British School of Houston offers a challenging, broad curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England, and focuses on the development of the whole child, aiming to equip every pupil with the essential skills for lifelong learning.

Aim of the School

The British School of Houston aims to provide a broad, balanced education for all the students in its care. By intending to create a happy, caring and stimulating learning environment, students are able to grow academically, develop self-esteem and reach their full potential. The school's goals include to:

  • Strive for excellence in education
  • Enable children to reach their full potential in every aspect of the school's curriculum
  • Provide children with an education appropriate to the world outside the classroom
  • Develop a love of learning in all students and a desire to continue to expand their knowledge and skills throughout their lives
  • Help children to learn to live together in a community and to show sensitivity to the differences between people
  • Encourage children to become responsible, independent people who are able to reflect deeply upon the world around them
  • To develop in children a positive sense of moral responsibility and self-discipline
