At BSH, we seek to reward student achievement in a wide variety of ways.
The British School of Houston Honor Roll
Each year, 10 students are elected from each year group to the school’s prestigious Honor Roll. Election is based upon truly outstanding achievement in one academic, artistic or sporting area of secondary school life. Students are nominated by subject teachers for exceptional achievement and a student’s election to the Honor Roll is discussed and decided by the collective teaching staff.
Letters of Commendation
Students who achieve the top grades for both Attitude to Learning and Attainment are awarded the Letter of Commendation. Students have to consistently achieve the highest grades in all class and homework, and display an exemplary Attitude to Learning in all areas of school life to achieve this award.
House Point and House Merit Certificates
Students also achieve House Points (Years 7-9) and House Merits (Years 10-13) for a full range of activities, including academic work, community and charity work, sport, music, art, dram, public speaking, conduct and so on. The House that achieves the highest number of points per term wins a free dress day, and the points go towards the Interhouse Challenge which runs across the whole school. The winning house is awarded the House Trophy at the end of each academic year. There are a number of interhouse challenge events over the course of the year including our annual Sports Days, Public Speaking and Poetry Writing Competitions. All earn students House Points or Merits for their House as well as going towards House Point and House Merit Certificates.
Sporting and Musical Awards
There are a huge range of sporting awards that are presented each year, including at the annual Sports Banquet and Music Celebration Assembly.
