The British School of Houston is a growing, diverse, and engaging school community dedicated to nurturing and supporting each individual student. By providing a full and varied education, we are committed to helping our students be the best they can be.
At the British School of Houston we teach children from ages 3 to 18. All faculty are UK qualified teachers; selected and appointed following a highly rigorous application process.
We are located in Northwest Houston on a 14 acre site with extensive outdoor facilities. Our campus also features specialist science labs, computer labs, Art and Design classrooms, and two newly renovated gymnasiums. As part of the Nord Anglia Education network, we are affiliated with 27 schools located in 11 countries.
Nursery to Year 6 (Ages 3-10)
We use a combination of the UK National Curriculum and International Primary Curriculum; this gives us flexibility in order to challenge the child in all areas of development. Literacy and numeracy are taught separately, but other curriculum areas are addressed through a thematic approach.
Year 7 to 9 (Ages 11-13)
We follow the Secondary National Curriculum for England in Years 7, 8 and 9. Compulsory subjects include English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Science, Art, Drama, DT, Music, French, Spanish, and PE taught over a two week block timetable.
Year 10 and 11
We offer the GSCE/IGCSE Pre-IB program in Year 10 and Year 11 as a preparation for our post-16 programs in Year 12 and Year 13.
Year 12 and 13
Our Year 12 and 13 students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and the IB Career-Related Certificate. Starting September 2014 we will be introducing A-Levels. These excellent programs of study facilitate worldwide university entry for our students.
